Remembrance Day is a day to remember those who have fought and served our country. Too many brave men and women have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom today. Others like our great Uncle Leslie Winter Reid returned from the Great War to make a legacy that continues for our family today, LW Reid.
In 1919, a 24-year-old Leslie Winter Reid returned from the Western Front decorated as a pillar of the community with a British War Medal and a Victory Medal. He made plans to create a business of his own. From the very start, Leslie’s mission statement was simple: Foster quality and service above all. Leslie was supported in this business by one of his brothers, Herbert Preston Reid. Herbert Reid would take over the business when Leslie died in nearly a century later, many things may have changed – but the mission statement of LW Reid has not: to outfit Australians with quality garments.
Today, the company that Leslie began as a family business has transformed into Australia’s leading uniform supplier, having clothed generations of Australians from shore to sun-drenched shore — expanding and innovating to become a respected manufacturer of stand-out corporate, sports and children’s wear. In fact, LWR is Australia’s leading supplier of uniforms for primary and high schools alike. Our reputation for quality and reliability, built over generations, started with what one man thought was important: honesty, loyalty and trustworthiness, for one and all.
Made For School is proudly a family owned and operated business, and we continue to be grateful for the decision Uncle Leslie made when he returned.
Today we will remember him and the other brave men and women who have served and who continue to serve our country today, thank you.
